A malty Assam summer tea sourced from aged chi-nary bushes that results in a lively cup! The blackish-brown long leaves are loosely hand-rolled and are interspersed with treasured buds. It carries the impressive aroma of black tea cured in oak wood smoke and a pleasant fragrance of frost flowers.     In order to brew a good cup of black tea, take some oxygen-rich, fresh water in a saucepan and bring it to a boil. For a single cup of black tea, take 1 teaspoon (2 grams) of black tea in a teapot. Pour the freshly boiled 180-200 ml of water over the leaves in the teapot. Cover and let it steep for 3-5 minutes according to your taste preference (longer the steeping time, stronger is the tea). Add in Milk and sugar as per your taste and liking!

    We source our teas from over 150 renowned tea plantations and small individual farms in India. Within the country, we procure from 5 popular tea-producing regions, namely : Darjeeling, Assam, Nilgiri, Kangra, and Sikkim.
  • How are your teas packed?
    After sourcing our teas directly from plantations within hours of harvest, we bring them to our state-of-the-art tea facility in New Delhi, India. The teas then go through rigorous rounds of cleaning, sorting, quality testing to remove any impurities/dust/foreign particles. Teas then pass through a final 10+ quality check points for leaf size, aroma, liquor, flavors etc. They are then vacuum-packaged in opaque aluminium-lined bags using sophisticated machinery. These vacuum-bags are then stored in a dehumidified, temperatuere-controlled warehouse which ensures that the teas remain garden-fresh and maintain their character. Upon recieving a consumer's order, we further pack the required quantity of tea in smaller vacuum-sealed packs which are boxed in the retail boxes and then sent over to our own delivery centres located in various parts of the world.

Smoky and smooth

While this tea is a bit pricey, in my opinion, I think it’s a good example of a slightly smoky but very smooth Assam. Not a whole lot of maltyness here, but it would be a good gift to a coffee drinker who wants to try different teas. I drink my tea black, but this one could hold up to some milk and sugar.

Good smoke

REALLY liked the smoke in this tea. Is as dark as coffee. Not as harsh as expected. Fine plain but a little cream and sugar to taste is nice too.

Correction to previous review for Smokey Assam Tea

I like a deep smokey perfume when I open the tea package and when I drink the tea. Deep, like a grill or a campfire. When I opened the vacuum packed Smokt Assam souchong black tea from Vahdam it had no smell and when brewed, no flavor. Very disappointed. Harney and Sons was more spot on.This is a correction to the above review. The company was very attentive to my experience and sent me additional tea plus some samples of their other teas. This is good tea, but, it turns out that it is not the same kind of tea I was used to drinking. The word “smokey” had me. I thought it would be smokey in the same way Lapsang Souchong is smokey but that is not the case. Sooo, the tea is good, just not my kind of tea. The company was very responsive and generous. I certainly was not expecting that an$ it was a pleasure. S Aska
